My pricing is based on a “Sliding Scale” determined by various factors including: number of pets, “sit desirability,” extra duties/work involved, timing of the sit given my schedule, etc. When I meet you and your pets we can determine if we're a good 'fit' for one another and then the exact cost. I do aim to create a fair value exchange cost for my services...in certain circumstances I can reduce my pricing if it creates a greater win-win outcome.
Prior to meeting I will often ask for an email with photos of the pets and the home (kitchen, living room, bedroom where I will be staying and sometimes the yard where I am sitting for dogs).
I ask for these photos for two reasons; to become familiar with my potential house/pet sitting living space ahead of time in case I have any questions and to assist in my pricing. In the past I didn’t ask for home photos until I needed to. I certainly don’t expect to be sitting in “show homes,” though I certainly have, which increases desirability and I been in homes that could only be described as chaotic. My pricing is adjusted to reflect healthy and unhealthy living environments without any personal judgement on anyone.
When it fits into my schedule, I usually prefer longer sits and can offer a lower rate or discount (determined on a case by case basis). Prices start at: Cat $35+/day Additional cats: $5-$10+ a day each Dog $40+/day Additional dogs: $10-$20+ a day each Possible Additional Costs: Administering medications may be extra. Due to the demand around busy Holidays and the winter months, prices can be higher. Dog walking is usually extra... (depending on number and length of walks).
Additional Costs: There's a $30-$50+ gas fee (distance dependant) for each visit I make to you before the sit. All that is typically needed is one meet & greet to visit you and your pets. This fee is due at the visit and is non-refundable. If the sit (your vacation) is less than 2 weeks, there may also be an additional fee of $30-$50+ For sits 14 days and longer, which are my typical sits, I usually incorporate (waive) the second gas fee.
Payment: I require a 50% deposit within 3 months of the sit in order to reserve your travel dates. 10% (of the total sit amount) is non-refundable if you cancel less than three months prior to your travel dates. 25% (of the total sit amount) is non-refundable if you cancel less than two months... 50% (of the total sit amount) is non-refundable, if you cancel less than one month... 75% (of the total sit amount) is non-refundable, if you cancel less than 2 weeks... I often turn down many sits due to dates being already booked.
The remaining 50% of the fee is due upon completion of the sit.
If there is a travel restriction like covid, your money will be fully refunded.
Cash, e-transfers and cheques are my order of preference for payment.
Misc: I bring my own food and appreciate using your kitchen supplies like condiments, and possibly odds and ends and snacks within the fridge & pantry, only if you're ok with that. I am very respectful of all things that belong to you. I appreciate the offer to buy me food, etc. But if you would like to give me extra (bonus/tip) because of the value I provide, cash (or e-transfer after the sit) is a great way to show your appreciation :)
